Sydney June 30th 1815 Dear Sir I have sent a little of the New Zealand Flax dressed and wrought in this Colony by a Prisoner Robert Williams, who understands the working of this Plant well, which will appear from the Specimens I have sent now— I have to request the Society will have the Goodness to recommend Robt Williams to the kind Consideration of the Governor of this Colony, in order that he may obtain a mitigation of his Sentence by which he would be enabled to visit New Zealand, and instruct the natives in Rope making &c— I have the honor to be Dr Sir Your most obedt Ser[van]t Saml Marsden NB.
